Why I’m Here

In 2004, people kept saying that election was the most important of our lives. Looking back, I think we spoke too soon. I believe this election is the most important because it will be a turning point in history. The 2008 presidential election is the first in more than 50 years where an incumbent president or vice president will not be seeking the nomination of his or her party. Everyone in the media keeps talking about the youth vote and how significant it has become. I'm very excited to see people my age engaging in politics and standing up for what they believe in. Whomever said we don't count and our voices can't be heard was wrong. I hope to be one of the millions to prove it as well.

With that in mind, I'm very fortunate to have been selected to represent Texas for the MTV Choose or Lose campaign. I'm a life-long Texan and I love my state. There are so many issues to talk about and show how much this state is changing. Do you have a story or idea to share about Texas and youth issues? Send me a message and let me know!

Election Night...waiting in anticipation

After 12 long hours of Election Day voting, polls closed at 7 p.m. in Texas.

Well, sort of.

El Paso, which lies in the westernmost part of Texas, is in the Mountain time zone. The state has to wait for that part of Texas to finish polling before anyone can call it.
