Background
Everybody knows me as a hip hop mogul but I didn’t come from this life, and I know what struggle is about. Music is a powerful thing and it wouldn’t be right for me to not use that to my advantage and for others. That’s why I make it a point to do what I can for the community when I can. Aside from concerts I’ve held to raise money for charities I’m most proud of my work in Africa. I teamed up last year with the UN and PlayPumps International to implement clean water systems in African regions in need. My international tour called Water For Life helped to raise money for the project, as well. MTV caught it all on The Diary of Jay-Z in Africa: Water for Life. As high as my success takes me I can never forget that there are always those less fortunate, and we all have to do our part to give back.
