In 2008, iEARN enters its 20th year of connecting students and classes worldwide to enable them to work on collaborative projects. From just two countries (US and USSR--remember that?) in 1988, iEARN now has programs in 125 countries!!! So, an educator or after school program leader can instantly connect young people with others around the world to talk about the environment, human rights, economic issues, cultural differences, or to just make international friends. They then work on these global issues in both an international and local context to improve the quality of life on the planet and in their community. A description of these projects can be found at http://media.iearn.org/projects One of our newest projects is the "(OF2) -- Our Footprints, Our Future." It enables students anywhere in the world to measure the amount of carbon dioxide they and their families are emitting through their current lifestyle and then make personal and collective goals to life differently so that they can play a positive role in climate change.
