Mission Statement

One person can change the world.  Each of us can help determine whether the average global temperature will rise in the next century, leading to major changes in our climate, or if together we will take action, influence others and start a wave of change that helps keep climate change in check.

In March 2007, more than 2 million businesses and households in Sydney, Australia took the first step and turned off their lights for one hour—Earth Hour—to send a powerful message that it’s possible to affect climate change.

From 8 to 9 p.m. local time on March 29, 2008, Earth Hour goes global, as people across the world come together to turn off their lights for Earth Hour.  Switching off is a simple action that can send a powerful message that we care about the future of the planet and are ready to take action on global warming.

If you want information on what you can do to be more involved in Earth Hour, including useful tools and tips, register at http://www.earthhour.org/sign-up.  You can sign up individually or register your school, business, or organization.

And to learn what you can do to be a part of the solution, all day, every day, check out http://www.earthhour.org/earth-hour-every-day/at-home.  Every action makes a difference!
