Will the beautiful women of the world please stand up. Driving down a bumpy road in the middle of Northern Uganda, we’re kicking up dust as we head into the rural countryside. I was traveling with teams from two other non-profit organizations to evaluate the work of our shared local partner, Joy Drilling, who was drilling wells and training communities in sanitation and hygiene. Before piling in, I make a last minute decision to jump into the truck's flatbed. The Ugandan drilling crew looks stunned that I'd do such a thing, but I didn't care. I’m happy to suffer a little dust for the view.

We're 3 years old today. Watch the celebration from Haiti.
To kick off the September campaign each year, and in the spirit of connecting you to the people you've served, we spend every anniversary in the field. Today, we celebrated in the town of Cabestor, Haiti, where more than 3,000 people got clean drinking water for the first time, thanks to you and our local implementing partner- Partners in Health.

Today is World Water Day, and while a billion people on our planet still lack access to clean and safe drinking water, we’re excited about the great progress being made around the world. Through your help, charity: water has now funded 1,247 water projects in 14 countries, transforming the lives of more than 650,000 people. Our team just returned from visiting our wells in Central African Republic, and it gives us great joy to share these stories and photos with you. - Scott Harrison, founder

“We saw you fly in,” the villagers told us, pointing to the sky. We’d arrived in Central African Republic (a.k.a. CAR). Since there’s only one flight in and out of the country per week, we knew they meant it. CAR is one of the poorest countries in the world, landlocked in the dead center of Africa.

I jumped back, but too late, as coconut juice splashed all over my jeans. The upside-down transfer from coconut to steel cup hadn’t factored in the volume differential. I sat on a plastic chair in the Engreda Village Baptist church, tucked away in the rural hills of Eastern India. Men and women of the community had gathered here to thank us for funding a piped water system that brought clean and safe drinking water down from a new well in the mountains. 41-year-old Junash was the one that spilled on me, but I didn’t mind, and drank two cups of the warm juice. A few minutes earlier, he’d made a speech about what happened here. I learned that the 567 residents of Engreda had big problems with water. Their primary source for years had been a polluted stream in the valley beneath the village, which I saw a few moments later. ...

A few hours ago, water came shooting out of the ground from 184 feet deep at the Abenea school in northern Ethiopia. More than 2,000 people looked on and cheered, knowing their kids would soon have clean water to drink.
Please take 2 minutes and watch the drilling video.

In the past few weeks, thousands of you from around the world have supported the September campaign for Ethiopia. (www.borninseptember.org <http://www.borninseptember.org> ) More than 1,100 people have given up birthday gifts for clean drinking water.
Our goal? To raise $1.5m in the month of September to build 333 wells here in Ethiopia. Asking for our age in dollars, in the past three weeks we've gotten a good start, raising more than $420,000. That's enough to build 105 wells, but we won't stop fighting until we reach our goal.

Hey September babies! This is the last email I'll send from Ethiopia on this trip - we finished the first well of the campaign, and posted the last video: watch the finished well at Abanea here! http://www.charitywater.org/birthdays/livedrill.htm
Thanks to you, we believe we can make this happen 333 times over, and give more than 150,000 people here in Ethiopia access to the most basic need. You,ve all picked goals that now total $1.7m. The potential of this group is incredible and we're excited to see you all reach them.
TOTAL RAISED SO FAR. Together, we've now used our birthdays to raise more than $254,000 - which is matched, so $508,000 in total so far. Enough for 127 wells here in Ethiopia!
THANK YOU CARDS FOR YOU TO SEND. ...
