Mission Statement
Using the Internet, print, and broadcast media, WKCD presses before the broadest audience possible a dual message: the power of what young people can accomplish when given the opportunities and supports they need and what they can contribute when we take their voices and ideas seriously. The youth who concern WKCD most are those marginalized by poverty, race, and language.

What's New

For 7 years, WKCD has been bringing youth voices to bear on issues facing schools, community, and the world at large. We've just finished working with youth teams in India, England, and in various cities in the U.S. to create a range of multi-media products that capture the world around them, through their eyes. We recently re-designed our website, www.whatkidscando.org, and now have a section that invites youth and adults to contribute their own stories and work. This fall, we will publish two new books with youth as co-authors. One is on mentors that matter in the life of teens and the other is called "SAT Bronx"--a version of the SAT's that tests street smarts as well as book smarts, written by students in the Bronx.
