So is Hip Hop at war with America?

Hip Hop's issues with America  or America's issues with Hip Hop (however you wanna phrase it) is a clever smokescreen to draw attention away from issues that we should really be discussing. Throughout history there has always been a controversial type of music. Today, that's hip hop. Not long ago it was rock music. So what? People are dying from starvation. Countries in Africa don't have access to clean water. HIV/AIDS is disproportionately affecting minorities (especially Black people). Inner city youth are killing each other. Racism still exists. But you wanna talk about hip hop? Artists have an amazing platform that can be used to promote positive changes in our society, and as much as I wish everyone would take the underground approach of uplifting their people…we can't demand it. Hip Hop is music. For some it's culture. Mold it into what you want it to be.

CNN released a new “special” called

Black in America

It’s amazing!

A two part series to summarize my existence

ME!

The West Indian Immigrant

Relocated to sunny California

Where the streets are paved with gold

Where the fiends would sell their soul for a hit

Where the stars would sell their soul for a hit

Where I would sell my soul

To get away from this shit

And escape to a place where everyone is

Only 33 per cent use condoms with friends

That friend with benefits could also be a friend with chlamydia. How sexy is that?

An Acadia University graduate student is researching FWB relationships, with an eye to finding out why friends who have sex aren't likely to use condoms.

"Sexually transmitted infections - like chlamydia, AIDS, HIV - among adolescents and young adults, have rapidly increased over the past couple of years," Heather Patterson said. "By understanding what goes on in the friends-with-benefits relationship, it would be possible to develop prevention programs specifically geared towards increasing consistent condom use."
