CALLING ALL YOUNG INNOVATORS! DIGITAL MEDIA COMPETITION IS OPEN!

I want to make sure you are all aware of the 2008 $2M HASTAC/MacArthur Digital Media and Learning Competition. (http://www.dmlcompetition.net , deadline October 15th)

The theme of this year's Competition is participatory learning which we broadly define as using new digital media for sharing ideas or planning, designing, implementing, or just discussing ideas and goals together.

I'm sure your youth supporters/audience have a big idea on how to use digital media and technology to further learning and collaboration and to make a positive change in the world. We want to hear their ideas! Our Young Innovators award is targeted to U.S. applicants aged 18-25. We want to help them get their ideas from the "garage" to implementation.


I hope those of you that have those big ideas cooking will consider applying!

The second HASTAC/MacArthur Digital Media and Learning Competition is now open!

Awards will be made in two categories:

INNOVATION IN PARTICIPATORY LEARNING AWARDS support large-scale digital learning projects
$30,000-$250,000

This year we are piloting international eligibility for our Innovation Award and will be accepting submissions from primary applicants in Canada, People's Republic of China, India, Japan, Mexico, the Netherlands, Nigeria, Russia, Singapore, South Africa, the United Kingdom, and the United States; collaborators can be from anywhere in the world.

I watched this "documentary" ;and,... what's the deal? High school is a joke. If you are not able to graduate high school, or at least get your GED, you do not deserve to reproduce. I know that the requirements to recieve a GED and high school diploma are extremely low. The public school system in The UNited States is sickening. This fact is unfortunatly supported by the fact that the schools are given money for every student who is in a desk. They are given more money for every student who scores below average on scholastic tests. They are given even more money for students who are "clasified" Special education. This leeds to corruption and lazy students. This country needs to take responsibility for it's self otherwise we are in for extreme trouble; no matter who is president.
