Did you know that three out of ten girls get pregnant at least once before age 20? That’s more than 750,000 teen pregnancies each year! Too-early pregnancy can have physical, emotional, and economic consequences for teens and their children, so it's important to know all the facts and know how to protect yourself.
That's why Stay Teen and It's your (Sex) Life are teaming up for Teen Pregnancy Prevention month to raise awareness about the importance of making smart decisions about sex and relationships, and practicing safe sex every time if or when you do decide to have sex (check out their videos for more on why you should always use protection!)
Visit Stayteen.org to take the National Day quiz now or to get involved in National Day activities, and go to It's Your (Sex) Life to learn more about taking control of your (sex) life!

Fifteen years ago, Pedro Zamora joined MTV's cast of "The Real World" and became TV's first HIV-positive man. Last night, MTV premiered "Pedro," a story about his life and a chronicle of his efforts to raise awareness of HIV and AIDS. President Bill Clinton famously called him to tell him how much his efforts meant and that "the country owed him a lot." His eventual death was probably the first time that many young people actually felt that someone they knew and cared about died from a disease that carried a lot of myths, misperceptions and huge stigma. Such is the power of TV—especially reality TV. We all know in our heads that reality TV isn't real. We know people exaggerate their behavior to get more air time and that they're all competing for their 15 minutes. ...

Told through the eyes of his friends and family, Pedro celebrates the extraordinary life a young man who found out he was HIV positive at 17, then made the courageous decision to dedicate his life to speaking out about the disease. Zamora testified before the United States Congress to argue for more explicit HIV/AIDS educational programs aimed at youth of color before auditioning for The Real World in 1993. ...

The news that Bristol Palin and her fiancé Levi Johnston have broken off their engagement once again focuses national attention on teens’ expectations about marriage when there is a pregnancy, the proportion of teens who get married after having a child, and the viability of teen marriages themselves. Research suggests that the experience of Bristol Palin and Levi Johnston is far from rare. At the time of their child’s birth, more than half of unmarried teen mothers say they are either “certain” or chances are “good” they will marry the biological father of their child. However, 8 out of 10 fat...

Weeks ago we told you about the premiere of The Baby Borrowers on NBC. We hope you had a chance to check out all six episodes and the discussion guides that go along with them, but even if you didn’t, you can check out tonight's follow-up episode, “Baby Borrowers: Lessons Learned.” At 9p ET on NBC, the Today show’s Hoda Kotb and relationship expert and TV personality Drew Pinsky will host this one-hour special featuring the couples who borrowed the babies (and toddlers and tweens and teens), the parents who lent their children, some of the teens made famous by the purported Gloucester Pact, and our own CEO, Sarah Brown, who will discuss the intersection of Hollywood and teen pregnancy. Can teens be good parents? That's the big question raised tonight by NBC's The Baby Borrowers as five teenage couples take part in a reality TV social experiment that lets them experience life in fast forward. They are given nice homes and a brief parenting class, and then real life babies care for – thanks to volunteer parents (some of whom were teen parents themselves). Over the next six weeks, you'll get to watch as each couple deals with the drama, surprise, challenges, and rewards of parenting in ways that are riveting and intense. As NBC says, "It’s not TV, it’s birth control!" Don't miss the premiere of The Baby Borrowers tonight at 9PM ET/PT on NBC.
