Mission Statement
The National Campaign to Prevent Teen and Unplanned Pregnancy seeks to improve the lives and future prospects of children and families and, in particular, to help ensure that children are born into stable, two-parent families who are committed to and ready for the demanding task of raising the next generation. Our specific strategy is to prevent teen pregnancy and unplanned pregnancy among single, young adults.
We support a combination of responsible values and behavior by both men and women and responsible policies in both the public and private sectors. If we are successful, child and family well-being will improve. There will be less poverty, more opportunities for young men and women to complete their education or achieve other life goals, fewer abortions, and a stronger nation.
Among our targeted programs is the Latino Initiative. The Latino teen birth rate is now the highest among all racial and ethnic groups in the United States—53% of all Latinas get pregnant at least once before turning 20 years-old. The National Campaign is dedicated to working with the Latino community in its efforts to reduce continued high rates of adolescent pregnancy and childbearing.

Take the National Day to Prevent Teen Pregnancy Quiz!
Because teens have been making better decisions about sex, the teen pregnancy rate in the U.S. has plummeted by one-third since the early 1990s. Unfortunately, recent news is not so great. For the first time in 15 years, the number of teens having children is on the rise again and we need your help to turn this troubling trend back around. A great way to start is by getting smart about the risks.
May 6th is the National Day to Prevent Teen Pregnancy and to help raise awareness and to encourage teens to get smart about avoiding teen pregnancy, StayTeen.org has a fun quiz [available at www.stayteen.org/quiz] that challenges you think about what you would do in the heat of the moment. Last year, more than 300,000 teens took the quiz—and 73% said it made them think about what they might do in risky sexual situations. Think you’ve got it down? Take the quiz, tell your friends, and find out how you really score at .www.stayteen.org/quiz. And stay tuned...
