The Chinese Government has been using the 2008 Beijing Olympics in an attempt to legitimize its brutal occupation of Tibet, running its Olympic torch through Lhasa and up Mt. Everest, and filling its Olympics advertising with images of happy, dancing Tibetans.
Since the recent Tibetan popular uprising began in March, the Chinese government has even been using the Olympics as an excuse to escalate its repression in Tibet, working to crush any sign of dissent during the Games.
With the Olympics bringing unprecedented attention to China, we must expose the reality of the Chinese government's brutal rule in Tibet and press for an end to its ongoing clampdown. This is our Olympic opportunity to make history for Tibet, and help win human rights and freedom for six million Tibetans.
