"My purpose in life is to help."
Why I’m Here
I joined the military in May of 2001 to get money for college. After serving a year in Kuwait and a year in Iraq, I returned home and was very proactive about figuring out the benefits I was entitled to as a veteran. I’m currently taking college classes and caring for my son. I volunteer at the local VA to help other Iraq vets and am working to accomplish my goals.

Blog post: Soldier stories from Kansas

With public opinion swinging hard against the war in Iraq, and frustration mounting about progress made in Afghanistan, American soldiers know challenges exist on and off the battlefield.
