"[Romney and Clinton are] tailoring their remarks...to cater to voters...and to you know, to massage the erogenous zones of the voters." - David Gergen, CNN Senior Political Analyst, on 'Anderson Cooper 360,' 1/3/2007
Why I’m Here

I'm a citizen journalist for the 2008 MTV Choose or Lose Street Team. I'm going to shoot a series of video portraits of New York voters. I'm also going to create a variety of other multimedia projects for this amazing creative endeavor.

I'm also a stand-up and sketch comedian. My comedy/writing/jack-of-all-trades website is
SaraBenincasa.com. My weekly show Family Hour with Auntie Sara, a FREE family-themed (but not family-appropriate!) live show happens at Ochi’s Lounge at Comix (353 West 14th Street here in New York City) every THURSDAY at 7:30 PM.

I wrote the popular "SJ1000" sex and dating blog on Nerve.com’s Blog-a-Log, so if you're interested in reading about a year and half worth of my sexploits, you best click that hyperlink, pardner.

I also host Nerve.com’s
Tub Talk with Sara B., a show in which I interview comedians and humor writers in my bathtub.

My trifecta of Nerve-related occupations includes contributing to the brand-new Chronicle Books release
Position of the Day: Expert Edition: Sex Every Day in Every Day.

I used to be a contributing writer to the
Onion News Network

I'm a frequent-ish guest on the
Sirius Network’s Maxim Radio Channel, where I talk about sex and romance and other pleasantly ridiculous things.

And you can follow me on Twitter. Because why not?

Here are some other important things about your friendly New York reporter:

1. I'm a political news junkie.

2. I'm fascinated by people's political/social passions.

3. I dig MTV News for reals. I watched MTV's coverage of the 1992 and 1996 presidential campaigns. I was thrilled to see politicians talking to, and about, people my age.

4. I'm interested in hanging out...at the place where social justice, activism, entertainment, information, politics, and social media meet. This would appear to be that place.

5. I LOVE NEW YORK!!!

What's So Funny About Running for President?

You may have heard about McCain’s recent joke about American cigarettes killing Iranian citizens. Specifically, a reporter asked McCain about the U.S. exporting cigarettes to Iran. McCain quipped, “Maybe that’s a way of killing them,” and then quickly explained that he was joking, adding that he is...

Young Immigrants on Politics and Identity

Thus far in this year's presidential race, Senators Barack Obama and John McCain have largely focused their immigration-related rhetoric on illegal immigration. And while the BBC states that "illegal immigration is set to be one of the key issues in the presidential campaign," what about immigrants...
