Mission Statement

The SAMI YOUTH ORGANISATIONS function as meeting places for Sami children and youth, and as for a social, cultural, and political work. They generally have a wide range of activities such as lanuage work, cultural festivals, sporting events, tours and information dissemination. An important common goal is to work to strengthen and develop the Sami language, cultur and identity.

Davvi Nuorra

 

Davvi Nuorra is a nationwide party-political and religious independent organisation for Sami youth from 13-32 years. Davvi Nuorra's objective is to disseminate knowledge and information about Sami youth in relation to their Sami identity. Davvi Nuorrro works amongst other things on skills development amongst Sami youth on issues concerning the Samis by organising courses, conferences and workshops.

 

Sami Organisations' Youth Committees

 

Both the Norwegian Sami Association (NSR) an the Association of Norwegian Reindeer Sami (NRL) have their own Youth Committees. NRL's Youth Committtee works primarily with themes concerning Sami youth connected to reindeer husbandry. NSR's Youth Committee works with topical issues relating to youth policies, within the organisation, in relation to the authorities, and not least in relation to the Samediggi (Sami Parliment).

 

Doajmmasiebrre Julev-Sabme (DSJ)

 

DSJ is an apolitical organisation that covers the Lule Sami region. DSJ works to strengthen the identity of Sami children and youth and, has organised summer camps for children and the Hellemo Cup in soccer, amongst other things.
