Mission Statement
PAX is a national non-profit organization working with all Americans to help bring an end to gun violence against children and families. Founded in 1998, it has become the largest non-lobbying organization dedicated to the gun violence issue in the United States. School shootings can be prevented, and you can be the key just by calling 1-866-SPEAK-UP to report a weapon threat. In 4 out of 5 school shootings the attackers tell other students about their plans beforehand. Just over a month after a tip from a Pottstown, PA teen prevented a tragedy from occuring at his school, another courageous young person has spoken up to keep the unthinkable from happening. When a student from Ulster County, NY learned that an online acquaintence was threatening to "shoot up" Brevard High School in Brevard, NC, she bravely reported the information to the authorities. An investigation determined that the threat was credible and that the student's choice to report what she knew very likely saved many lives.
