I can't speak for everyone, but in my house sex is almost a taboo. I'm responsible, and don't have sex, but I still might have questions. Why do parent's think it's so horrible that teenagers think about sex? It's true that there are allot of iresponsible teens that have unprotected sex, have kids, and get pregnant, but not all of us are like that. As of now I don't have sex. BUT... I might want to, eventually, if I find the right guy. My mom had sex when she was younger, so why can't we atleast talk about it? I know she's just trying to look out for me, but I can look out for myself sometimes. Just because I want to know about sex I'm going to all of a sudden have wild teenage sex? NO!!! I just want to know some opinions, and some facts about sex and the risks that come with having sex. I want- scratch that- I NEED to be prepared.

Among his friends and acquaintances, ditching the condoms for other forms of birth control like the pill, signifies taking monogamy to a new level; partners are required to trust each other completely at the risk of getting an STD. Given that few of his friends in their late teens are thinking much about marriage, this transforms a prophylactic into a relationship sign-post along the lines of an engagement ring.
