Homecoming
When coming out makes Ron a target for attack, he finds a school where respect and acceptance are taught alongside Math and English. His story confirms how essential a school environment is to the well-being of young adults and how this setting should be supportive of students of all backgrounds and orientations.

Happy Ending
Drugs have taken Chris’s mom out of his life but not out of his heart. In this personal travelogue, he goes to Philadelphia in search of a happy ending. I had a secret and I felt that people needed to know. My mom always told me never to tell anybody about the secret. Making this film was a big step for me. I came to the HBO Young Filmmakers Lab in spring of 2003 with the help of my counselor, Neil. He believed in me and wanted to help me to tell my story.

All That I Can Be
William, like many young Americans, feels that joining the military is his only way out of a dead-end job and a rough life. There are more advertisements for chain store jobs than there are for photography groups and poetry slams. People I know are joining the military because they need money for college and they don’t want to work at McDonald’s like they did in high school.

A Girl Named Kai
Three years in the making, shot in four countries, A Girl Named Kai is a brave and honest autobiographical vignette in three chapters about Kai Ling’s relationships, self discoveries, passions, secrets and dreams. Through a stirring poetic mix of video and sound, Kai appeals to her traditional Taiwanese parents for acceptance in spite of her untraditional take on life and love.
