Welcome to LevelTen!

You read our mission above but you may still be wondering who we are and what we believe in.

LevelTen is a Washington, DC based non profit organization committed to closing the Achievement Gap in America.

As we see it, the "achievement gap" refers to the gap in academic success between groups of students. This gap can be seen in grades, standardized test scores, drop-out rates, college enrollment and completion rates.

It's the main point of education reform efforts, and is arguably the most prolific issue in the United States.

We really believe in Christopher Jencks and Meredith Phillips' statement that:

"Closing the achievement gap would probably do more to promote equality in the United States than any other strategy now under serious consideration. Eliminating the achievement gap would sharply increase college graduate rates, reduce racial disparities in men's earnings and would probably eliminate racial disparities in women's earnings."

We are seeking individuals of all ages and walks of life across the nation to join in discussions and initiatives about this pressing issue.

If want to learn more about LevelTen and the achievement gap, check out our website (www.levelten.org) or visit us on on MySpace.
