October 15 has become an annual observance in our fight against AIDS. It is a day of hope for the future of a world without AIDS. In recognition of the surging new infections among Latinos, different cities and their leaders will use National Latino AIDS Awareness Day to promote and sponsor activities on prevention and education. Others will use the day to make religious leaders and public officials aware of the needs in reducing new infections and caring for those living with the virus. Our hope is that National Latino AIDS Awareness Day will become a year-round active network that promotes collaboration and partnerships to help stem the tide of HIV/AIDS in our communities.
