The most decorated military photographers in the American armed forces will be participating in a fine art exhibition opening in Los Angeles, CA, May, 24, 2008 Memorial Day weekend where their images, owned and released by the department of defense, will be on sale for the first time to the public with the requisite that all proceeds will be donated to charity; in this case, The Wounded Warrior Project, a nation-wide service org that aids in the recovery of injured servicemen/women returning from Iraq and Afghanistan.
Our most notable photographer, Air Force Sgt. Jeremy Lock, has won Military Photographer of the Year three times, while Air Force Sgt. Andy Dunaway captured unique photographs while being Donald Rumsfeld's personal photographer. Army Sgt. Cherie Thurlby led the first female combat camera crew in Iraq and Army Sgt. Russell Klika, who's career as a "milphog" spans over ten years and now specializes in the photography of the Iraqi people, served in Iraq at the same time his son was stationed there.
The non-partisan event will feature 25+ limited edition prints that show the multi-faceted nature of war, and will give the American public a closer look at war through the lens of an American Combat Photographer while aiding those injured from the war.
