Mission Statement

Strong American Schools is a nonpartisan public awareness and action campaign offering a voice to every American who supports "ED in 08."

Our goal is to ensure that the nation recognizes the crisis facing our country's educational system and that parents, teachers, and students take action to strengthen our schools so we can strengthen our economy.

Strong American Schools, a project of Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors, is a nonpartisan campaign supported by The Eli and Edythe Broad Foundation and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation promoting sound education policies for all Americans. SAS does not support or oppose any candidate for public office and does not take positions on legislation.

What's New

Much has happened since our last update. ED in 08 was at the Iowa caucuses, making our presence known to the presidentital candidates and the media covering the events.

Last month, we also held a MTV forum in Des Moines, Iowa where students at North High School talked about their concerns about education and their future.

We've also been in New Hampshire and South Carolina.

Lastly, check out a story from Business Week magazine that explains that education is one of young America's top three concerns going into the 2008 election.
