I joined Think because I am the founder of YouthBuild and it is part of my life's work to listen and lift up the voices of young people in public policy because I decided when I was about 14 years old that adults didn't listen to young people enough; and then when I joined the Civil Rights movement in 1964 and came to live in Harlem I felt there was huge talent and desire to make a difference among the teen-agers but nobody was focusing on how to liberate and connect that talent and energy to changing the realities and conditions in the low-income communities where young people were facing incredible obstacles. So I joined Think to listen some more, and to let the YouthBuild members know that I am still plugged in to what you are saying, dreaming, writing, creating, and wanting to make happen for a better world.
