Mission Statement

Building Better Lives for Disabled American Veterans And Their Families

With more than 1.2 million members, Disabled American Veterans is an organization of disabled veterans who are focused on building better lives for disabled veterans and their families.

The organization accomplishes this goal by providing free assistance to veterans in obtaining benefits and services earned through their military service. It is fully funded through its membership dues and public contributions. It is not a government agency and receives no government funds.

DAV is the foremost representative of the interests of disabled veterans and their families, their widowed spouses and their orphans before federal, state, and local governments. Our National Legislative Program ensures disabled veterans are not forgotten by lawmakers.

As a disabled veteran myself,I suffer from PTSD,and extreme pain as well. I agree with with femalevet27 100%. I am happy that the Bush reign of error is over. I have a upcomming event that I am trying to get published and helped with please,if anyone would just please read my profile event. I am going 50 miles in my manual wheelchair to help save the dying whales, dolphins, and oceans. The oceans are a major part of the ecosystem, without water,no life will exist. I am begging please if there is anyone that can help me to help sea shepherd conservation society,as they are the only organization brave enough like me to risk their own life for the lives of whales and sea life, and animals. I thank you from the bottom of my heart. Bless you all.

Since Bush has been in office there have been major cutbacks in VA hospitals and veterans are suffering. McCain claims that he will support vets, though he voted against the GI Bill along w/Bush. Being a POW does not automatically make someone qualified to be Commander In Chief. McCain claims to have endured excessive torture for his country when in actuality it was to keep his father safe. He was interrogated to obtain information about his father's command.

Over the years I have come to know many Vietnam Veterans who were diagnosed w/PTSD. Not only should McCain's physical health records be disclosed, his mental health records should be disclosed as well. I can not conceive of someone enduring what McCain endured, and coming away from it w/out some form of mental illness. On numerous occasions he has exhibited symptoms of PTSD. While I may be a disabled veteran, I don't want one to be my president........................A Veteran For Obama.
