There is this site. Its called Blackle.com. Its a part of google, white screens use up more energy than black screens. Blackle has a black screen and saves as much energy as boiling two cups of water for tea. Not a lot, but every little bit can make a difference. The only downside to Blackle is that one could only do web searches, no image searches. Just check it out though.

The FBI has a new "most wanted" terrorist. His name? Daniel Andreas, a 31 year-old who resided in Berkeley California. He is wanted for the 2003 bombings of two offices in California. The reason for those bombings? Those offices had connections to drug and chemical testing on animals. He was an enviromentalist to the extreme, but that's not always a good thing. Daniel is now on the run. Remember, violence isnt the answer to our problems.

We all know there is a food shortage. Its common knowledge. Its no secret that people are dying everyday because they cant have that wonderful meal most of us Americans eat three times a day. So my best friend told me about this thing she is doing for her church. Her church is going to do a 30-day famine and a donation drive to raise awareness for world hunger. Now I dont go to church, but this is a really good idea, so I proposed to her that we also do this, just her me and our other best friend. Why not you too? If you think 30 hours is bad, just think how those people feel daily. The hunger pains dont go away. I will definately be blogging about my experience soon enough!

On October 20, tragedy struck Vasquez High. 14 year-old Jeremiah Lasater was found dead in a bathroom stall at the high school. He had a single gunshot wound in the head, the result of endless bullying and teasing.
Jeremiah was a tall, gawky freshman who had a learning disability. Teachers and teachers recall Jeremiah being a target for bullying since middle school because of his size. He was 275 pounds and played defensive tackle on the school football junior varsity team. He loved football and played it with passion.
But this bullying was enough for Jeremiah. On the Monday of his suicide, Jeremiah was humiliated when other guys threw chili at him and pulled his pants down. After lunch that day, Jeremiah didn't go to class. He headed towards and empty bathroom and shot himself.

Every girl (and guys too) want smooth skin. There is a wide variety of facial washes and exfoliators. The only problem is, some of these exfoliators and scrubs contain a type of plastic called polyethelene. Slate.com recently posted an article by Hillary Rosner. The article brought to my attention how a simple facial wash, designed to scrub away pore-clogging dirt and oil, can harm our water enviroment in such a way.
Plastic is not biodegradable. Massive amounts of plastic are begining to stiffle our planet's oceans. The only thing about plastic is that it breaks down only into smaller pieces by the sun. When creatures from the ocean, from cute little otters to lugworms and crustaceans, the plastic they swallow will stay in their stomachs or move on to their body tissue. Traces of phenantrene have also been found traveling with polyethelene. Phenantrene is a "byproduct of fossil fuel and a dangerous ocean pollutant."

To fully understand drunk driving, and why people do it, one must understand the effects of alcohol itself. I'm sure it is a well known fact that alcohol slows judgement and causes one to do things they would not do if they were sober. The long term effects are more life-threatening though. By binge drinking, or excessive drinking, can cause alcohol poisoning, which is deadly or can put you in a coma. It can also risk cancer of the heart, mouth and throat.
Drunk driving causes so much hurt and is not good for anyone. An o...

There is no way that one person can completely stop producing co2. Webreatheco2. My friend was trying to explain to me why killing cows is good for the enviroment (let me mention I am a vegetarian). I pointed this out to her, and she never brought it up again. I'm just pointing that out. That's all.

Gas, entertainment, and most importantly food. The prices of all these things are very different from what they were, say, 3 years ago. Of course prices are going to change eventually over time, but 4 to 5 dollars for a gallon of gas? Incredible. The rise in gas prices may make people more concious of how they use their gas, the high prices still aren't good. I know I am stating the obvious, but the economy is ina dangerous down spiral.
Surprisingly the cost of food has gone up 60% in the last year. This food crisis won't only effect the quanity of food...

My friend and I were talking about landfills for some reason. Then he said something about burning all the trash(33.9% paper, 12.9% yard trimmings, 12.4% food scraps, 11.7 % plastic, 7.6% metal, 7.3% rubber or leather or textiles, 5.5% wood, 5.3% glass, and 3.3% other). I told him that burning all the trash may in fact turn it all, or most of it into ash, but it would also releasingTONSofco2into the atmosphere. But that got me thinking. I mean, would the amount of co2 released into the air just be a price to pay for gettting rid of the vast amount of trash that fills up landfills?Hmmmm....
