I work in the Dept. of Human Development and Consumer Sciences, in the University of Houston. Our graduate students will work as consultants or hold positions that support career and organizational development.
We are offering a form of blended learning that we call "simultaneous broadcast." In this format of teaching and learning, we invite online learners to attend synchronous classes, if they choose to. Of course they have the option of just taking their online class asynchronously, which is the usual mode, but we find that many of our students, busy as they are with careers and families, enjoy attending synchronous meetings.
We find that many of our students want to meet, whether it is face to face, or in an internet space. Learners can attend by coming to one of our classes, or they can go to a "live classroom" space through the internet, at the same time that our class is being held.
