Mission Statement
FYI - Film Your Issue is an "issue film" competition, with partners including USA TODAY, The United Nations, The Associated Press, The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, The NAACP, The Humane Society of the United States, MTV, MySpace and the American Film Institute -- as well as a roster of American leaders led by Walter Cronkite and Tom Brokaw. FYI - Film Your Issue invites all young adults 14-24 years old globally to add their voice on pressing social issues to the public dialogue, using the power of the internet and User Generated Content. More than 25 million high school and college students in the U.S. alone -- as well all young adults outside the U.S. - are invited to create and upload films up to 2 minutes on issues that impact their generation. In addition to taking the pulse of young adults on issues, FYI - Film Your Issue underscores how even an individual voice can influence public debate.

WHO YOU ARE AND WHAT'S YOUR ISSUE
You are a young global citizen yearning to make a change in the way the world is headed. You want your voice to be heard by millions, loud and clear: across oceans, over the mountains, through the woods and, of course, online. Your chance has arrived!
Film Your Issue is a short film competition open to all global citizens between the ages of 14-24 and we want to know the issues that burn in your hearts and minds.
Not only will you have the chance to influence future policy, brag to friends and family, there are prizes as well:

- Oh, and did we mention bragging rights?
SO WHAT'S THE NEXT STEP?
We want you to make socially conscious mini-movies-- the same medium all famous filmmakers start out with-- and not monotone Public Service Announcements. There's nothing wrong with PSA's but we should leave them up to an older generation to make. Use all that is inside of you to make us laugh, cry, and get up off our kiesters and go make a positive change in the world: in other words, inspire us! Think narrative, think story-telling, think big!
Please visit our site to find some useful guidelines and pointers on pre/post production.
The sooner you complete your film the faster your hard work and genius will become recognized internationally via the Associated Press. Deadlines for submission are April 14th 2008.
To be eligible for the competition, you must register at www.myspace.com/filmyourissue. Your film entries should also be uploaded at www.myspace.com/filmyourissue. You will also be given the option to have your film posted on Think MTV. We encourage you to share your film with as many possible outlets you feel fit, it's your work.
SPREAD THE WORD, PUT ON YOUR THINKING CAPS!
So there it is! It's time to put your thinking caps on and take that long-shot you've seen in your head for so long now and put it on tape and let the world hear your issue. Get the word out about Film Your Issue: tell your friends, teachers, family members that you are going to make a change.
We are looking forward to seeing your films!
