Stayin’ Alive is Malaria No More’s flagship grassroots movement focused on empowering American students to join the global fight against malaria through school dances and other events. Created by a group of high school students in Melbourne, Florida, Stayin’ Alive grew into a national movement to raise awareness about the crushing burden of malaria and raise funds for life-saving bed nets. Over a three-year period, Malaria No More aims to partner with 10,000 Stayin' Alive events nationwide, raising a total of $10,000,000 to provide bed nets for two million vulnerable children. Stayin’ Alive is...Your dance. Your chance to make Malaria No More. For more information, visit www.MalariaNoMore.org/StayinAlive.

Numerous schools across the United States, Canada and Africa engaged in acitvities to raise awareness about malaria andshow the world they are empowered and ready to take action against this health crisis.

SPOTLIGHT:

MTVwas proud to host an event with Nothing But Nets honoring individuals (students!) who have made great strides in the efforts to end malaria related deaths. John Norris hosted the event along with special guest speaker Rick Riley. Retired NBA player Sam Perkins was also in attendance.

Stayin' Alive founder, Allyson Brown, was honored for her simple solution to the age old question, what can do? "Have a dance, it's that easy."

HEROES OF THE WEEK!

Check out the students of The Resource Centre for Youth, of Saint John, New Brunswick! They had 4 days of events devoted to World Malaria Day and Global Youth Service-- and raised enough funds to buy over 130 bed nets!

These students collected canned goods, held BBQ's and concerts, provided malaria education sessions, held several Stayin' Alive dances and also held a Dance Dance Revolution-A-Thon to raise funds and awareness about malaria!

This isn't it for them- these students are ready and eager to keep engaging the issue to join in the effort to help make Malaria No More--we can't wait to see what they do next!
