In Kenya, there are children who have been placed in orphanages because of abandonment, abuse, or other forms of personal trauma. But, the law in Kenya requires that women must leave those safe houses at the age of 18. They are turned out on the streets-- many to walk down paths that ultimately lead into the same cycle of violence and abandonment that they thought they had escaped.
Karama House is also a group of individuals devoted to implementing initiatives, raising money, and spreading the word about the personal potential of these young Kenyans. We believe that empowering young women in a safe enviornment, challenging them to grow by getting a college education, and teaching them to learn and live out financial independence can and will change their lives and the lives of countless Kenyans.
We are partnered with an international organization, a domestic non-profit, and an existing Kenyan Children's Shelter.
Each of us has a unique gift or ability that can be used to help others... we want to empower the strengths of our supporters and encourage use their talents to help the Karama House women.
