World Bank and The International Monetary Fund both publicly deny that they help spread poverty and cause civil war; however, they have a long track record of lending money to violent regimes. The situation in Darfur is being exacerbated by the fact that Sudan owes over 27 billion to IMF. In many other countries, the burden of the debt dictators have incurred in their name facilitates the spread of poverty. The loans that were given in the name of poverty reduction and nation building are now causing an increase in hunger and violence on a global scale. Both organizations are American and our president appoints the president of World Bank. As a country we need to hold our politicians accountable for their actions.
