You never count your money when you're sittin' at the table.
There'll be time enough for countin' when the dealin's done.

“The Gambler”, Kenny Rogers, 1978

Most people go to Las Vegas and lose a fortune. Six extremely talented young inventors made one at the Rio All Suite Hotel and Casino   without playing a single hand of poker.

Put yourself in the following situation: You have just graduated high school and have just begun attending college thousands of miles from home. You are making friends, but you have no one you can truly depend on yet. Shortly after classes start, you start to feel ill. You go to the doctor. You are diagnosed with an incurable disease. How do you feel? What do you do?

This is a true story. It is the story of University of Miami student Jeff Brody, a freshman majoring in motion pictures. In October of 2007 Jeff was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease, an incurable ailment that affects the intestines and...

Children Play With Earth, Arrested Development, 1992

On April 20 I went to the Green Apple Festival in Bicentennial Park in Miami. After the show, I caught up with Speech from Arrested Development. Hear what he had to say about the environment and which candidate could do the best to green our country.

Note: When Speech mentions The EDGE in the video, he’s not talking about U2. He is referring to the The Early Development of Global Education.

Father McKenzie, writing the words of a sermon that no one will hear.
No one comes near.

If there’s a Green concert and nobody goes, does it make a difference? Check out my video to see.

I went to the Green Apple Festival in Bicentennial Park in Miami on April 20. In the spirit of the eco-friendly mission of the concert, I took public transportation to the event, not an easy task in Miami. I boarded the Metrorail at the University stop, just outside of Uni...

And the riot be the rhyme of the unheard.

Calm Like A Bomb, Rage Against The Machine, 1999

When you’re sitting in a sound-proof booth, the last thing you expect to hear is music bumping through the walls. But I guess when the event next door is called Say It Loud, it makes sense.

Last night, Thursday, April 17, while in the midst of another marathon editing session for my senior film at the University of Miami, S.T.A.N.D. (Students Towards a New Democracy) members were raising voices and raising dollars for the Coalition of Immokalee Workers. S.T.A.N.D., an organization that strives to create a culture of activism in the University of Miami community, was ha...

Chuck D Turns Up the Volume on Rap, Race, and Reality

Yo Harry, you're a writer, are we that type?
Don't believe the hype.

Don’t Believe the Hype, Public Enemy, 1988

If at any time you thought rappers were the unintelligent type, Chuck D is here to set the record straight with authority.

The frontman for legendary hip-hop group Public Enemy spoke for over two hours to a couple hundred students at the University of Miami about Rap, Race, and Reality. Rarely did he talk about rap or hip-hop. But ask him about the economy, education, culture, or this coming election, and he had more than a few things to say.

Can we all get along?

                                Rodney King

No. No we can’t. That’s why we fight. It’s also why we have alternatives to fighting, like
