Engaging Our World: 21st Century Diplomacy

“I do not think America wants to change its collective mind on Muslims.

Instead of going overseas and meeting with all the Muslim nations, President Barack Obama should be going all over America to see the conditions Americans live in.

He is trying to tear up everything America stands for. To the Muslim nations, anyone who is not Muslim is an "infidel." To them, any gentile, Jew or Christian only deserves death.

People need to wake up. Obama is only for his own agenda, and to appease the Muslims is a slap not only in God's face, but ours as well. In our own back yards, people are unemployed and homeless. Parents can't put food on the table. And his concern is what the Muslims think. “- From Islandpacket.com posted by Jackie

This is the type of vitriol and stale rhetoric that continues to bleed in its own absurdity. The ridiculous name calling, habitual fear mongering has to end if we as a nation are to exist in an ever more enclosing World. The notion that we can insult religions and cultures around the world without regard, would only diminish our allies, empower those who seek to destroy us, and further isolate us from the world. As long as we continue our assault on the Cultural and Religious Ideologies of the Arab world we fuel and strengthen those who promote "Death to America". Opening the diplomatic arms of America to the Muslim Nations will allow us to befriend the innocent people of those nations, drive our influence, and burn bridges of Extremist organizations with Arab people. As a Result, we empower the people of those Nation’s to rise up independently and fight for their own Freedom and Liberation.

We must begin to realize that Extremism and Radicalism is bred from the grassroots within these nations and that these organizations and individuals are only as strong as the community around them.  Our nation walks a fine line; our perception to the people of these nations depends solely on our actions and words.  To the American people we maybe seen as Seekers of Justice and righteous in are methods to pursue these extremist, but to the foreign nations and the innocent citizens our perception maybe worst than that of who we seek. Only through diplomacy and social relations can we build a stronger network of nations with common goals and values.  Diplomacy and social relation will allow us to clarify our identity with the people of those nations, gain allies and trust among these nations, and remove harbors and safe states from extremist.

Independently and collectively we must push past our historical differences in order to ensure our own survival. We must embrace who we are all the while respecting the cultural identities of the world. It is our obligation as a melting pot nation, whose own culture and values as a nation derive form self identification and unity for common god, to embrace and promote those same ideals around the world. We must promote not force the rights of liberty and Pursuit happiness by acknowledging social justice through diplomacy and critical internalization. We live in a time where war is becoming primitive and like children who mature  into adults we must put aside childish ways and debate positively on issues. In war no one truly wins……..Parents lose their children………Children lose their parents………..Family lose homes and security………and fear and rage fuses into extremism. The time for global initiative against Extremism is now.  It threatens the liberty and freedom of all the children of the world. For the sake of not only their children and families but our own children and families we must address the growing social issues of our time.  -William Gilbert
