Get A Chance to Interview Simple Plan!
Posted November 13, 2008 at 2:09 PM

Even though millions of people are affected by cancer on a daily basis, it’s tough to understand it until it happens to you or someone close to you.

Pierre’s brother Jay was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma at the age of 28. Thankfully, his cancer is in remission now, but it inspired us to include cancer awareness as one of the initiatives of the Simple Plan Foundation. All proceeds from each download sale of our new single, “Save You” which was written in tribute to Jay will be distributed through our foundation to cancer charities around the world. Check out the video below!

So, where do you come in? We want to hear about how cancer has affected you or someone you know in your life and give you a chance to talk to us about it. We also want to tell you personally how the song “Save You” came about.

If you want the chance to interview us, send an email over to Think MTV at think@mtv.com with your full name, age, e-mail address, phone number and time you can be reached, and tell us in 200 words on why raising cancer awareness is important to you. If you’re selected, we’ll call you for an interview with us on Tuesday, November 25. After the interview, we want you to blog about our conversation, where it will be featured on think.mtv.com!

think very important, because many people in need of surgery and do not have to, because they often do not have money, and here in Brazil is the foundation AACD, which helps children with cancer, disability etc ...

then I was touched by everything that occurs in today's world.

The foundation Simple Plan is very important, in Brazil the AACD too, so I always help when I can and I tell them that continuen thus helping those who nessecitam in my family thank God has not ninguén with this disease but I already dated a boy and that he had died by not have the diagnostics ok.Entao want you to help these people do not have the same has happened with my boyfriend.

I mean that if I have financial conditions in the future I will help people nececitadas, as you help.

It's important to help people with cancer and their familys. My best friends sister was diagnosed with cancer when she was 6 and died when she was 7, it's was a hard time for my firend and i can understand her. My uncle/godfather died in cancer for 3 years ago and a girl in my class lost her mother for 2 years ago. I admire them both because their so strong and continued with their lifes, I didn't stand so close to my uncle but i've met him alot of times but the thing that hurt me the most was seeing how my mother reacted to his death. There's so many people that are infected by cancer even though they don't have it them selfs, everone should help to find a cure for cancer or at least try to help.

Last night, Novermber 15th, I was in Barcelona, at Simple Plan concert. Yesterday, it made seven years that my father died from a really rare cancer. At 39 years old and 5 months, my father died. Only two years after he told me not to worry, even though he'd got 5% of chance to survive. He fought 'til the end, and I stayed by his side 'til the end. I was only twelve, and to see my superhero (dad) not being able to talk, to eat and to close his eyes, because he was too weak, was really shocking. I still remember my father has the perfect dad, and everytime Simple Plan plays the song "Save You", I close my eyes and sing it in his honor. It's like a prayer. Now my grand-father got back is cancer - I learnt it two days ago - and even if I'm in Europe and he is back in my hometown, Rivière-du-Loup. I wish I could help him to get better, but I can't. That's why we need fundation like SP's one.

when is the deadline for this? and does the interview have to be relevant to cancer?

Re: Simple-Plan-4-Life 370 days ago

most likely because they want to know how cancer has affected you or a loved one.

It is important to me, because on November 18, 2006 my grandfather died from cancer. It still hurts thinking about it. It just came out of nowhere, and he was everything to me. I want them to find a cure for cancer, so no one ever has to go through the pain of losing someone they love to something so horrible. It was killing me inside watching him become paler and skinner as the days went by. The day I found out cancer had taken him away from me I couldn't breathe. It was as if my whole life was over. It hurts so much losing someone so important in your life...and I don't want it to happen to more people.

well i lost my dad the last month victim of gastric cancer... it was horrble becouse my father is the second person on my family that the cancer took from my hads.

this disease has been the biggest enemy of me; becouse  i can not belive in the impotence that  it could make feel in a human, in a family, in a wife, in a son... and it helps for make stronger the whole family, keep them together...

i know, my daddy and my aunt are in haven, but i can´t avoid to make me some cuestions. i can't avoid thinking about my father sick... and really is the worst pain that i felt ever in my life.

before he die, i talked with him all about our life, all the memories, when i was a child and i couldn't  resist and i started to cry, he also cried, becouse he knew it was the last time on his life, and he never wanted say good bye

i'm just trying to remember the good things we have lived but it's hard...

well i know the contest is over but its no the matter of getting an interview with simple plan people should always take things about cancer seriously. I lost my bestfriend/Dad to Liver cancer 2 years ago Dec 15 it still kills me everyday to know i couldnt do anything but be there for him and take care of him. When you lose the person you love the most you really realize everything you have to face in life alone. its a kick in the ass and I hope no one ever has to go through the pain i had to and still am. I am not depressed in any way but without my friends who knows what could have happend, cherish your life help who you can and be aware. <3
