The worst host in VMA history

I believe that Russell Brand was most possibly the most unknown and ignorant person at the VMAs this year. To pick a host that is not even from this country to come on the show and try to create a bias among young viewers is ridiculous. Ha 'Rock the Vote', sure why dont u tell me who to vote for to MTV? Brand was a complete idiot when he spoke and pretty much the creepiest person I've ever seen on MTV. It seemed to me that he was probably a tabloid, media nut who wasn't really thinking for himself but just speaking from the jokes he heard about Bushes speeches and what-not, just rambling about what the media shows over the actual policies and decisions that have been a part of Bush's presidency. Then to push the issue further he basically called out Republicans as idiots and called non-supporters of Obama racists....now i wanted to remain ascomposed as possible but **** YOU RUSSELL BRAND! YOU ARE A FUCKING IDIOT AND A TRUE DISGRACE AS AN INTERNATIONAL REPRESENTATIVE OF YOUR NATION!! YOU CAN CHOKE ON OBAMA'S **** YOU WORTHLESS ****. with that being said I'm sure it's obvious that im conservative but what I want tobe stressed is,vote for who you want to vote for.Sure I want you  to vote for the same man as me but hey as long as there is activism in this countryit makes for a better tommorrow and Iwould hope that unlike Russell Brand others wont force their beliefs and ideas ontoothers but present them in a persuasive and influential way, unlike the barbarianism of Russell  Brand. If you agree with Obama's policies vote for him, if you agree with Mccain's vote for him; just make sure you actually know what's going on and not just that Obama is black or that Mccain is a Republican. Be open at first and make a choice, and don't listen to pieces of trashsuch as Russell Brand. If you like to gain fame with shock and awe statements and actions then people like Russell Band and Ann Coulter then feel free to act as they do but realize you will be respected by noone and no one will listen to what you have to see because you have no intelligence or rational whn you stoop to that level.

I cannot believe this BS!! that started the VMA's i was completely disturbed by Russell brand's comments!! he has to have been the worst!! who does he think he is!!!! like he said he is not famous here he's big in the UK then what the hell are you doing here!!! why are you trying to tell people who to vote for when your not even American!!
everyone's is entiled to their own opinion why are they trying to brainwash the youth of today!!! i am completely upset about this, specially this whole joke on teenage pregnancy! does he not realize britney's sister just gave birth to her kid. i believe MTV could of done alot better!!!by the way im not just saying this because im a republican because im not!

His comments on the republican party whe referring to ashlee simpson's baby were also ridiculous but its his game,he isn't actually talented thus he has to go with the shock and awe. If I had wanted to my entire post could have been the most vulgar, harsh thing imaginable but i at least i tried to keep myself under control. He tries to say that if your a young adult Republican your forced to have your child.....or maybe you just choose not to prevent a life or you actually want your child! I thought it was funny that he actually pissed off some of the people presenting and they let him know. i really wish he would have been struck by a falling light or what not. The weirdest part....He was British! what relevance is he to our nation? why does he matter? its ridiculous

This is an unfortunate event that has happened, and MTV has shown once again that they have no shame. I truly believe that even the most staunch liberals could see that this was a complete bastardization of free and open press. All of the posters in this forum have hit the nail right on the head, and I hope that MTV networks take notice of the backlash. I feel very sad that what was once a network for showing music videos and breaking with societal norms, has now become a sad and pathetic megaphone for a few extremist liberals that want to sway an entire segment of the public without consideration for both sides of the story.

This guy was horrible. Did anyone know he was fired from MTV in Europe for wearing an Osama Bin Laden outfit to work the DAY AFTER September 11!!!! What a piece of ****. Last nights show made me be proud to be an American. I dont care if you are a Republican or a Democrat almost all the comments were out of line. Who the heck is MTV to tell us who to vote for. Russell Brand seems really credible.
Re: pharmmajor 446 days ago
I didn't even watch the VMAs last night because I had no idea who the hell the host was, and I could've done without the spectacle and celebrity whoring. After reading what Brand did, I'm even happier that I missed it.

You want to know the truth? All this "Rock the Vote" and register to vote crap networks like MTV push, what they're really trying to say is "Be sure to vote for who WE tell you to." It's all about pushing an agenda. Left-wing, Right-wing, green, whatever. It's just ********.

Re: thelakers1 445 days ago
for wearing a bin Laden outfit huh?

way to go MTV, why doesn't MTV do us all a favor and go back to the UK with this loser!

First of all, easy on the cussing, lestat75. It's apparent to everyone that reads your post that you are obviously articulate and quite capable of getting your points across w/o the expletives. Now on to the subject at hand. Does this really surprise anyone? MTV is a division of Viacom. Viacom's PAC is in the tank for Obama. Last year Viacom PAC ranked 19th highest among Obama's donators by giving him over $80,200. By August 2008, National Amusements, owned by Sumner Redstone had contributed $352,603 to the Obama Campaign. Why is Redstone important? Because he owns controlling interests in CBS, Viacom, Dreamworks and Paramount Pictures.

I was dismayed by the comments made last pm by Brand.. Since when did the VMA's become a platform for Obama and the Democratic party. What bothered me most were his outrageous attention seeking comments about the president of the United States...It's about RESPECT..Whether you agree of disagree with political viewpoints (Democratic or Republican) you don't disrespect the President on National TV..I Blame MTV exec.s producers and writers as well. Brand was just the puppett for their liberal views. Shame on you MTV..Way to promote a better YOUTH!! Lets teach our nation how to respect authority, not degrade it.

I completely agree
Re: thelakers1 443 days ago
just think if you went to another country and ripped their leaders. He is lucky to not be in jail!

While I agree that Russell's comments were out of place at the VMAs, I disagree with the idea that he has no place commenting on American politics because he's British. American politics stretch far beyond our gated borders and the relationships America has with other countries are incredibly important to both our economy and our safety.
Re: thelakers1 442 days ago
good, great, wonderful, just don't come here and do it. No one cares. keep those thooughts to yourself until your across the pond in that s^*& hole you call GB!

It was totally wrong for Russell Brand to get people to vote for Obama. He used the VMA's to promote voting for a Democrat in the upcoming election. He even started off the show with his opinion. I was disgusted. He and MTV can't assume that everyone watching the VMA's is a democrat. Plus, does he really think that voicing his opinion is really going to change what people think? It certainly didn't change my opinion. It only made me appreciate my opinions even more. In the end, it just makes him look stupid. It's obvious that Russell Brand has absolutely no respect for people. He is ignorant and should seriously not have been allowed to say that. I can't believe MTV let him do that. I was so shocked and angry. One minute MTV is telling teens to vote for whoever they want to. and then Brand is telling them to vote for Obama. It's absolutely rediculous. No one cares about what he thinks anyway. I didn't even know who the hell he was until the VMA's.

"He and MTV can't assume that everyone watching the VMA's is a democrat."

No, but they want you to be, and think there is something wrong with you if you're not. They, like the tobacco industry, believe in the motto "get 'em while they're young, and they'll be customers for life."

russell brand seems to be the kind of person that is mccain was black he would call all democrats idiots and if you dont vote for mccain your racist. You def. said it best:::

"If you agree with Obama's policies vote for him, if you agree with Mccain's vote for him; just make sure you actually know what's going on and not just that Obama is black or that Mccain is a Republican."

I watched part of the VMAs and saw Russell Brand's routine, and was totally unimpressed. First of all, it is possible to be funny without being lewd and crude. Second, I thought it was rude to come to our country and try to influence the vote. We have no vote in the UK's elections, and the citizens of the UK have no vote in ours. It's no secret that when citizens of other countries are polled, they show a preference for Obama. MTV is unabashedly in the tank for Obama. But we shouldn't vote for someone just because he's "cool", or attractive, or gives a good speech. We need to choose someone who is best for our country, whether it be Obama or McCain or a third party candidate. WE decide that, not Russell Brand or MTV.
