Just a quick blog about my experience at the VMA's after winning THINK's "Do Good. Go to the VMA's" Contest.
My life has truly been blessed over this past year as I continue to strive and work hard both as a student and in my communty. In September, THINK rewarded me for my commitment to working hard by sending me on a trip of a life time to the 2008 VMA"s. It was truly amazing and beyond anything that I could imagine. SInce I was a young child I have always participated in many different organizations and community based events to put forth an effort to make change. In elementary school I helped to raise money for St. Jude's Children's Hospital, money to build a local playground so kids in our community would have a safe place to play, as well as many other things. In high school my involvment in the communtiy became even more great. I was able to become an active blood donor for the American Red Cross. I also helped to raise money for one of my fellow classmate's who was battling cancer. Each year around Thanksgiving, I also helped organization I food drive so that those who were less fortunate could still have a wonderful Thanksgiving meal. Additonally, around Christmas time I also helped "ring the bell" for the Salvation Army to collect money for needy families around the holiday time. While college consumes a lot of my time nowadays I do make sure I still stay involved in the communtiy. As of right now, I'm collecting toys and other small items so that they can be wrapped and shipped to children all around the globe who are less fortune so they too can have a special holiday gift. Also, as previously mentioned in my VMA blog, I still love working and spending time with my handicapped cousin Brittany who is truly my hero. She has undergone a lot of surgical procedures and has to deal with a lot of obstacles in life, but despite her disability she is a strong young woman who has overcome a lot in her life. She has made me realize the true meaning of "life" and has helped me to build the determination and drive to do my best to make the most of the life and strive to help out in the world. I am a very commited person who is hard working both academically and in my community so that I can make a change in the world, and that is why I believe I deserve the TRL Yearbook :] (TRL was really a great MTV show, actually one of my favorites next to the Real World. It was sad to watch it all come to an end last night ! ):[ And remember everyone, KEEP ON THINKing!
