Hey everyone! I’m Jared, winner of Think‘s “Do Good. Go to the VMA’s” contest. I’m from a really small town in Pennsylvania called Nanty Glo. I’m currently a sophomore at the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown where I study hard so that I can obtain a major in Pediatric Nursing.
While I was busy taking college courses over the summer, I made sure I utilized my free time to do volunteer work. I regularly donated blood to the American Red Cross, cleane up trash at my local playground, and raised money for the “Light the Night Walk” for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society which I will participate in this October. One thing that I do a lot with my free time is spending time with my handicapped cousin Brittany. She was born with cerebral palsy, and my aunt and uncle hardly get time to go out and have free time to themselves due to Brittany‘s disability, so I watch Brittany so they are able to. In the future, I would love to travel abroad and do some sort of volunteer work.

Winning the contest was truly amazing. I was in shock when I got the e-mail from THINK saying that I was a finalist because I never won a contest like this before. Then, I was even more surprised when Jen from MTV called me and said I was the grand prize winner! Not only was this my first ever VMA experience, but it was also my first time flying in an airplane. I never got the chance to go to the west coast and I finally got the chance thank to Think. It just showed me that taking the time to help out in the community really can have a rewarding outcome, and this reward was more than I could have imagined. My night was topped off by having the once in a lifetime opportunity to be interviewed by John Norris of MTV News!
Check it out!
It was so awesome and a little nerve racking I must say! The whole VMA experience was AMAZING!! I loved every minute of it, from having a limo drop me off at the red carpet to meeting celebrities that I watch on TV and listen to every day, it WAS AWESOME!
I just really want to thank THINK for giving all of us users an opportunity to get rewarded for doing good ! I encourage everyone to join THINK, not only because you can get rewarded, but also because I believe it allows you to realize all of the causes that the world faces today. You are able to find so many different organizations on Think that pertain to the causes you wish to support. Three causes that are important to me are Education, Discrimination, and the Environment.
Because of Think I was able to find many organizations that are specifically oriented to such causes. Join think, find the issues that important to you, make a difference, and you too could be rewarded for it just like me!!
