How Does Someone Say that?!

Here in Ukraine, we have many television programs in which government officials and many other members of political parties come to discuss topics in front of a camera and give their opinions. And recently, a public official that shall remain nameless had made an insult about both the president and one of the worst genocide, the Holodomor.
The government official had stated that, "the president is pathetic for continuing to raise awareness and publicize the Holodomor. It is in the past and should no longer be remembered".
If you don't know anything about the Holodomr, than let me give you a bit of information: The Holodomor was a fabricated famine done by the USSR in which and unrecorded amount of people had died. Though it is recognized as a famine, it was a genocide. The government had taken all the food and wheat in the area of Ukraine from 1932 to 1933 killing (historians believe) around 5 million people.
(When I say this, I do not mean to insult any members of the Jewish community) But if someone had said, "Why do you have a moment of silence for the Holocaust? Its in the past, that's pathetic", than that is by far one of the most insensitive and disrespectful thing to be said. Yet, a GOVERNMENT OFFICIAL, had the guts to say this on LIVE TV.
What the HELL is this world coming to?
