Where is it safe?
Posted July 12, 2008 at 4:44 PM

Five years ago my family and i said goodbye to our old house and moved to a house that was in a, what my mother considered, a better neighborhood. To the left of our house, was an elderly man who was in a wheelchair, which restrained him from leaving his house as often, and his wife along with there son who was in [possibly] mid twenty's, early thirty's. To the right ouf our house was another elderly man and his wife who were often gone on vaction. On ether side of the houses there was police officer's who spent there time off work living there. My mother thought that my two sisters and I would be safe here.

Today [July 12,2008] about five minutes ago, across my street three people got into a fight. The lone man had simply him self to transport him away if needed, or to to protect himself if needed. He had four freinds with him [one had a skate board, another had a bike.] The two men on the other hand, had a car, and a knife. I heard yelling and saw that the two men starting beating up one of the guy's that was walking. I don't no how it started or what it was started over but then i heard one of them yell "Put away the knife". After my mother called the cops and the sitaution got settled i wondered where is it really safe any more?

With so many violent influnces surrounding us, it's no wonder these things happen. Even though it's our own choice to start the violence with the people around us or even within ourselfs, it doesn't help when the things around us invoke the violenence, making it seem cool. But really, where is it safe? For anybody? When will violence decrease to nothing and peace be written on every man, women, and child?

Safe is a word that has little meaning now. Because you think about it, where is it safe? What is safe anymore? Just something to think about..
