PICTURES:  Desperate Teachers Have Faith in Kids

This is a recent photo taken August 23, 2008. This shows a teen volunteer teaching unschooled children the education basics in a tent classroom amidst bushes beside a dirty swamp. Imagine the heat and odor of a grueling three-hour session. It shows how desperate and resilient these volunteer teens are just help children learn to read simple words and write their names. Taken in Cavite, Philippines. Photo courtesy of KUYA F!

I WAS THERE WHEN IT WAS TAKEN YESTERDAY.

The heat was so intense and the wind so humid. It was difficult to spend just a few hours staying there but the children live in that community. It serves as their playground.

Thanks for sending me the link to this photo.

It is indeed admirable to see young people involved in volunteer works especially if it requires a lot of sacrifices just to fulfill their purpose. Hats off to you.

well it is nice to see some one is teaching the poor, even though it should fall on the state to do that. the only way man will survive into the next century is through there kindness and generosity.
Re: dynamicteens 438 days ago
Your kind words encourage us and inspire us to keep on going. Thanks.

WHAT CAN I DO TO HELP MAKE THINGS BETTER FOR THE KIDS ARE THEY PLANNING ON BUILDING A PLACE AND HAVING SUPPLPIES FOR THE KIDS.
Re: dynamicteens 438 days ago
It's hard to build a place here for them. The lot is owned by the government and they'll be building a shopping center there soon. This kids will again be displaced. As of now, we are roving around town with our Kariton Klasrum (a push cart school) carrying books, school supplies, hygiene stuff and food. if you can refer us to where we can solicit some children's books and other stuff for them, then that will be a great help. Thanks for your compassion.
Re: felixanton 431 days ago
Compassion is right! Can Think members like us who aren't from your country help in someway? What if we cannot refer but we can collect things and stuff and send it over. What do you think dynamicteens?

I WAS THERE TOO WHEN IT WAS TAKEN. Really hot and smelly. But the kids were very happy to see us.

It's sad to see that the government is allowing this to happen.
I admire the kids' hunger to learn.

This is an encouragement to me in a major way. I am a librarian and this summer was one of the toughest, but most rewarding. I had to deal with a few 'promblem boys' and am so glad I did.

I had a back to school party for the kids last Friday and everything went wrong at first because I had car trouble, I prayed and told God to make a way for me and he did.

Because of that party, I now have the love, trust and respect of 20 boy ages 8-16. I worked with them during August and it was worth it!
Re: dynamicteens 431 days ago
good for you Equinox.
We're so happy that it really turned out to be an encouragement.
Keep up the good work with the boys and please send our hello greetings to them on your next meeting. Hope to be friends with you.
Re: rodham 431 days ago
You have an active faith girl!

I love your testimony! Keep it up, serving the Lord by reaching out to the boys. I'm also very inspired by this photo in the bushes. Take care.

This is splendid!

It's really very encouraging to see young people at work in saving the next generation. May it be a domino effect on the generations to come.
Re: dynamicteens 431 days ago
That's really our goal of making that wave of change.
Hope you'll take part and let's be a team.

Majority of our youth here in the Philippines NO LONGER care for others. It's a sad reality maybe because of a culture of materialism that have developed in the young as influenced by a minority of our generation and the ones ahead of us.

It is indeed REMARKABLE to see teens who care this much especially to kids who will be the next in line. Kindness and goodness sown will be reaped in time. Thanks for inspiring many people DYNAMIC TEEN COMPANY, I'm one of them!
