okay, so a lot of people think getting started on getting involved is hard. There are simple things on facebook that you can do, like add greenbook, which donates a tree every time you send one(or something like that. i know they donate trees). You can also add donate rice, which is a vocab game that donates rice every time you get the answer right. You can do the thirty hour famine at your youthgroup(if they're doing it) which is a 30 hour fast that helps the needy and goes toward world vision to feed the foodless. At my youthgroup, we did a food drive for the local food bank, and by the time we were done, we had at least 390-something cans of food. it was amazing, and before the famine, you had to raise money, and 1 dollar could feed a kid for a day! the youthgroup collectively raised over 3000 dollars(that's over 3000 days of food for a child!!!!) You may not realize it, but every little bit counts and when you donate a dollar from your lunch money to world vision or to your friend's famine fundraising efforts, you're giving someone somewhere something to eat for the whole day.

so just think about it.

alot of people lately are so concerned about thier selves its discusting.
it makes me sad to see how people dont even care about one another anymore.
there could be someone dyeing in the street and people would walk by and basicaily not even care.

i agree with both of you. people neeed to stop caring sooo much about themselves and more of the eviroment! people, just take a chill pill and realize what is going on around you!!!

Well yes it is difficult to make people help because they are alot of times stuck on problems of their own and feel it is too much to help the world because they can't get past problems in their own life. To that I say to those people that helping the world can be your get away place from all the drama and problems in your own life and it isn't really that hard like u said, so what we need to spread is the fact that helping the environment and making a difference isnt that difficult..it can be as easy as recycling on a daily basis or the products you choose in a store!!! E-Z!

Agreeed :)
One of the biggest issues within the nonprofit community is how to engage people who want to help and build a satisfying relationship with them. Well, it's easy to blame people for not caring enough and not even trying to do anything but the truth is it's our fault as well. We (the nonprofit community) do not offer people enough opportunities to feel like their time, effort and money are well spent on our causes. And so it's really no surprise when people stop spending that time and effort.

For example, a few months ago a colleague of mine emailed me and asked if I would volunteer to run an event with her group. I responded right away, but-- thanks to the wonders of modern technology-- the email was lost or accidentally deleted. So, I showed up at an understaffed event to help out only to be told "oh ... we didn't know about you ... so you can just go home." It was not a nice feeling to clear my schedule, then to be discarded as if I had nothing of real worth to contribute ... and I'm used to the industry's occasional inefficiency!

I can only image what impression someone younger and just getting into charitable work would have come away with.
