Sex toys can bring extra fun to the bedroom, but proper use and care of these toys is essential for safe sex.
The experts at Planned Parenthood have great tips on using sex toys safely, posted on teenwire.com.
Here's what they have to say:
"It is normal and healthy to masturbate and have sex play with or without sex toys. Objects commonly used include sex toys — like vibrators and dildos — and other penis-shaped objects.
As far as health is concerned, dildos are safe to use. However, people should be aware that in some states, such as Texas and Alabama, buying or selling sex toys is actually illegal.
It is important to keep any sex toy clean. Condoms can be used on toys that go into the vagina or anus. Condoms need to be used if partners want to share the same toy, especially if a woman is menstruating. Use a new condom for each partner — and for each part of the body. Sex toys need to be cleaned. Different toys have different cleaning instructions.
It is also important to not use dangerous toys such as those made out of glass, those that stimulate by suction, those that can break off or get lost in the body, or things that can splinter."
