Gender roles....are girls being favored too much?

Lately I've been reading this book calledThe War Against Boys: How Misguided Feminism Is Harming Out Young Menby Christina Hoff Sommers and it got me thinking. For years we have been trying to favor girls in order to make the gender roles more equal. But now it seems as girls are dominating over boys.

What do you think?

i think that we as women deffinantly dominate men in some ways but at the same time there is still alot of sexism. alot of the time women get things becuase men think they are sexy and expect sex in return for giving them things.

This really is an interesting topic that I have a lot to say about. If I'm not mistaken the whole premise of that book is "Girls have higher self-esteem, more opportunities, and are now outscoring boys in some subjects. Obviously we hurt the boys in these areas, rather than helping the girls." I've read it and other stuff from the author, as well as scholarly responses to it and childhood gender issues. In Esquire magazine, Sommers said something like women's studies courses were designed for ugly women who couldn't get a man. Although she writes a lot she doesn't seem all that scholarly and scientific research oriented. May I ask which course the book is required for Brittinni?

One last thing, the gender percentages at universities favor women, but women are still routinely paid less for doing the same or similar work as men. Clearly the "boy crisis" isn't translating into a "man crisis".

There are double-standards, I agree. As a female, I'm treated better than many of my male counter-parts. However I am still treated less than an equal in some ways.
I highly doubt it'll ever be truly equal in my lifetime, but I guess this is better than the alternative.
