Where Are They Now? Interview with Josephine
We chatted with Josephine to find out what she's been up to since the production.
What have you been up to since the shoot?
I went back to school and I’m in the 11th grade in school. My goal is to finish secondary school and go on to college. I’ll be the first girl in my family to complete school.
After learning about the way Amanda lives in America, what do you think about her life?
I'm very curious about her life! My dream is to go to the United States one day and to visit Amanda in New York City!
What was the most important lesson you learned from the production? Did you try anything new or do something differently after the production?
The production inspired me to want to work hard and help my community even more. My dream is to eradicate female circumcision in my region.
How is your family? Any new changes since we last saw you?
I have some very exciting news! On Monday, September 25th (day of the premier of Exiled!) my mother went into labor. We started walking towards the nearest hospital, 16 miles away from our house. But, the baby wouldn't wait and she delivered the baby in the middle of the road! Now, I have a baby sister. My family and I named her Jenna Amanda because 'she wouldn't wait - like the American girls!'.
