My school should have a school newspaper because there needs to be a way of informing those of us in my school about the issues around us. At Coosa, there is supposed to be a newspaper, but in the past decade, it has been eradicated by the lack of commitment of writers, editors, and advisors and the need for money to buy us new equipment. This isn’t right and needs to change. We need outside help making this change.
The first amendment has all but disappeared in my generation. There is no way of speaking to not only the students of my school, but students everywhere, in a way that they would listen. Fault is not only at the hands our administrators, but the students as well. I believe that having a newspaper at my school can help in this problem. If we have one, we could help other schools around us with the potential of having their own newspaper create their own.
At my school, 99% of us don’t know any of the issues at hand. We need a way to spread the word about more than just what little we hear about on television. At Coosa, there is no ability to teach the others around myself about the goings on of the world. I wish to find a way to teach those around me what is going on in the world and how to change the things that we all know need to be changed.
All we need is the help and support from an outside source to push us into becoming a more helpful school. I want to be the reason we can have a more worldly school, and I believe this can happen by Coosa having a school-wide newspaper.
