This is a war song that knows no glory. It's a tough song about a US soldier who has returned mentally scarred from war. He isn't receiving the help he needs to return to civilian life by the beaurocracy who sent him there. Lost in the darkness of a suicidal bottomless abyss, he is touched by the chance acquaintance of a mother who's son is never coming back from his tour of duty in Iraq. Somehow this triggers feelings of hope and self worth that was stolen from him.
