Today, slavery is unthinkable. Most people in this country puke at the thought of owing another human being. But most people think little about killing the unborn. Most people say it is a matter of individual choice and the pro abortion people tell the pro lifers that if they are against abortion not to have one. Very few know that the pro slavery people in the 1800's thought that slavery was a matter of choice and told the abolitionists that if they were against slavery then they should not own a Negro slave. Htiler left the question for the final solution of the Jews to the German people for 'choice'. Abortion, slavery and the Final Solution have ata least a few things in common - they were on a pretext of 'choice', they singled out a particular group (with slavery, it was the blacks, with the Holocaust, it was the Jews and with abortion it is the unborn.) All of these are crimes aganst humanity. They are all systematic forms of injustice. In the case of abortion, the unborn are killed systematically in killing centers run by Planned Parenthood. They are commonly called abortion clinics. The Nazis systematically killed the Jews in killing centers called death camps.
If the unborn were just a blob of cells, like the abortionists claim, then abortion would be okay. If the unborn was not alive then abortion would be okay. If the unborn were not human, then abortion would be okay, and if the unborn child is not a person, then abortion is justified. Remember, the slave owners called slaves 3/5 of a person to strip them of thier humanity, the Nazis called the Jews "parasites" and "vermin" to strip them of thier humanity and abortionists call the unborn baby a "blob of cells", and "embryo", a "fetus" to try and take it's humanity. Some say that the unborn are not alive.
If the unborn are not alive, then how does it become a live baby at birth. Dead things do not come to life. If the unborn is not human, then how come it has human parents, human DNA and how come it becomes a human baby at birth. Does it, at some point, become a potato for a while in the womb? Or a squid? Of course not. It is human all the way through to birth from conception.
Some say that life does not begin at conception. If that was so, then why do, at fertilization, the egg immediately start dividing and growing, taking in food and oxygen from the mother. The pro abortion people say that the idea that life begins at conception is a religious one. It is biological and scientific as well.
So far, we established that the unborn are indeed alive from conception due to the dividing of cells, that it is human, but is it a person? Often times, a dominant group has defined a minority it wants to dehumanize as not being a person to justify exploiting at killing members of that group. The pro abortion people use size of the baby, the level of development, it's environment or where it is, the womb or outside the womb, and dependency on the mother as criteria to determine when the unborn becomes a person. The problem with this is that each person defines that criteria differently, on a sliding scale. Most often, the earlier in the pregnancy, the more justifiable it is to have an abortion. Feminists especially maintain that the unbon child is part of the woman's body and cite that women should have freedom to do what they want with thier own body. The problem is that the unborn child is not a part of the woman's body - it is a distinct being, with a unique DNA, blood type (If the baby's blood mixes with the mother's blood, it can kill the baby.), and its own centeral nervous system. The unborn child can be the opposite sex of the woman. This feminist viewpoint is also a very selfish one, since they don't think about the welfare of the child they are carrying, only thier own. Lastly, some will justify rape as a reason to abort a child. Why does the baby have to die for what the man did to that woman? The baby is just as much of an innocent victim as the woman who was raped.
I was at the Genocide Awareness Project's display of pictures of aborted babies at Portland State University today. Many people were angry that "a bunch of fudamentalist Christians" would come on this liberal campus and "dictate what they can and cannot do." Laws tell us what to do all the time. They tell us it is wrong to murder, steal and trespass on private property. They even tell us not to have cock fights. If cock fighting is illegal, abortion should be too. The abortionists will use the excuse that it would affect a woman's economy adversely if she carried her baby to term. The same argument can be said about cockfighting. In some places, the gambling off cockfighting is lucrative and a person who does cockfights can say that depriving him of cockfighting will affect his pocketbook adversely. Get real - if the federal government can pass a law fining a person for distubing the eggs of a bald eagle, then the same protection should be afforded to unborn human beings.
