Why My School Should Have a Paper contest

Step 1. Read the Official Rules..

Step 2. Register with ThinkMTV to access the entry page.

Step 3. Post 250-300 word essay in your Think profile blog. Be sure to tag it with high school journalism.

Your essay should explain why your high school -- which doesn't have a school paper -- should.

Step 4. Fill out the Why My School Should Have a Paper contest entry form.

Judging

Primary guidelines used by the ASNE judges will include: commitment to journalism, an understanding of the First Amendment, originality, creativity and command of language and grammar.

Winners

Three winners will be selected.
Each of the winners will recieve an iPod and $500.
Each of the winners' high schools will receive $3,000 to start a school paper.
NO PURCHASE NECESSARY. Entries for the Why My School Should Have a Paper contest will be accepted at http://www.hsj.org/the_paper/contest from April 14 to May 19. Entrants must register with ThinkMTV and on the www.hsj.org/the_paper Web site to gain access to the entry form. All entrants must meet the following criteria: a legal resident of the fifty (50) United States (including the District of Columbia) who are 14 years old or older; currently attend a high school that DOES NOT have a high school newspaper.
