A Fatherless Nation

By

Michael Dean

Every wife needs her husband, every son needs his father and every daughter needs her father.

Just as important the father needs his family.  I believe that in the African-American community the lack of fathers is a plague and needs to be addressed. The lack of fathers in the homes makes it hard for the mother. The mothers have to look at their husbands and fathers through either prison bars or in the grave.

I strongly believe that racism played a great part in the lack of fathers. The government divided the homes with drugs, lack of jobs, educational opportunities, and there is a still a strong sense of hatred against blacks; it hasn’t always been like this.  I believe that its time to take a look at life and how we represent the millions of men, women and children without the fathers in their lives. This plague has became a norm, as much as I would like to point the finger at other people, in reality it may be true but real change starts with an individual that wants change.

Whether you believe it or not we can put an end to poverty, racism, teenage pregnancies, violence, drugs in our community, nation and the world. As long as the fathers are out of the home, restoring strong morals and traditions to each family will be difficult. Until then, there will be no change.
