'large amounts of money, injected directly into the bloodstream.' Trey Parker and Matt Stone kicked off the 12th season of South Park last Wednesday with an episode about HIV/AIDS. Astonishingly, as well as pushing the boundaries of bad taste it actually manages to score some decent points.
Waitress: AIDS is more of an 80's, 90's disease. It's all about cancer now. Cartman: Well, that's just great. Of all the times to get AIDS, I get it right when everyone stops giving a crap!

Anyone else see the episode? What did you think?
South Park always finds a way to push the limits of what is acceptable in entertainment. In doing so they raise valid issues and make people seriously evaluate them. Just because South Park is a crude comedy doesn't mean they don't present great topics. I dont think that the creators made the show to be a social or political platform but it happened by accident. Now that they have the attention of viewers they have the oppertunity to present material in ways that make people think. By creating this episode they make you laugh but more importantly they keep the discussion on the status of the AIDS virus current.
Great show!
