Although the official premiere of the eighth annual Media That Matters Film Festival has come and gone, our year is just getting started. For the next year, we will be working on outreach through these films. Now that you've watched them, its time to take the next step:
Discuss the films: ask questions or share your opinions with other people who have also watched the films on the Media That Matters site's forums.
Take action: One of the things that sets Media That Matters apart from many other film festivals is the fact that our films are all paired with links that you can follow to learn more and affect change. If one of the short films had a strong impact on you, check out the take action links that come with it!
Host a screening: Ready to take it to the next level? Bring Media That Matters into your community! If you want to host a screening, fill out a pre-screening form so that we can provide you with more information. You can also watch our collections of films from previous years on our website or purchase them through our store to see if any of those would be useful to you too.
And while you're on our website, check out what other things Arts Engine has been up to lately! Arts Engine works year round to support, produce, and distribute independent media of consequence and promote the use of independent media by advocates, educators and the general public. Become a member of our online community MediaRights.org or, if you live in the NYC area and have your own social issue film you're working on but need a little feedback, consider becoming a member of our new program DocuClub.
Also, check out the projects created by our production arm Big Mouth Films, which creates feature-length, social issue documentaries. On Tuesday, July 1, a production of Big Mouth Films called Election Day will be premiering on PBS at 10 PM. Check it out!
