Will.i.am recently wrote a song, "Yes We Can", in support of the 2008 U.S. presidential campaign of Barack Obama, which in turn became a music video directed by Jesse Dylan (son of Bob Dylan). These are some of my thoughts.
Check out a new video right here on think.mtv.com with Angelique Kidjo: “In My Name.” Actors and artists alike are joining the cause against poverty and inequality, and you too can make a difference.
So, how you can fight against world poverty, inequality and injustice? Check out "In My Name" for more info on how you can contribute. Join us now.
Well stated!! Now lets spread the word so others will know to do the same.. Thanks for always being real and standing up for those who don't have voices..

The First Black President
They elected the first black president today
some people are still in shock
Every president has always been white
but then along came Barack
Once upon a time in Mississippi
they hung blacks just for fun
they hosed them down and burned them out
and had them on the run
Ku Klux Klan have burned black churches
tarred and feathered young men
left them screaming as they laughed
Does everyone remember when?
They used Joe Louis to hype the war
and such a hero there never was
but after the war, the IRS hounded him
and he died without a cause
They tied a black man to a bumper
and dragged him till he fell apart
they forced blacks to the back of the bus
they were people without a heart
They beat Rodney King to a pulp
and still they were set free
Even though it was all on film
The verdict was a travesty
They kidnapped a black boy from his home
and beat him until he died
For saying "Baby" to a white girl
convicted, but never tried
Martin Luther could see the mountain
although they shot him down
His hopes and dreams will still live on
though his blood is on the ground
Jackie Robinson was spit upon
though the fastest on the team
He walked proudly and opened the way
for Barack to win it seems
But yet today there still are racists
who cannot see the light
They will ever understand
how useless is their fight
Governor Wallace forbid blacks into school
He should have taken classes
Racial segregation is NOT the way
It was proven by the masses
The first black president was elected today
because he seemed the best
Now, whatever the color of your skin
we pray he'll deliver us from mess.
